Where is Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung is located by the southern bay of Taiwan and neighbors Tainan and Pingtung. It is Taiwan’s second largest city, and is only 1.5 hours from Taipei by High Speed Rail. Kaohsiung has the most beautiful harbor view, and is full of surprises with its city charm and ecological culture. Kaohsiung has an abundant of natural and cultural resources, farms, forests, mountains and hot springs, suitable for multi-day trips to experience the warmth of southern Taiwan!

Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park (KMP) is a large-scale public park that was built by the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior. KMP is the first regional forest park to be constructed using executive Yuan's Blueprint for the Development of Metropolitan Regional Leisure Facilities in the Taiwan Area. The park is located on the border between Kaohsiung County and Kaohsiung City. KMP provides its surrounding residents with a place for outdoor recreation and leisure. In addition to providing a leisure center, KMP also serves to protect its surrounding natural resources and to improve the local environment. To achieve theses objectives KMP encompasses a 95 hectare forest. The rest of the park is also planted with all kinds of distinctive flora, making KMP an ideal place for recreation, leisure, and environmental education.

Kaohsiung Sugar Refinery (Address: No. 24, Tangchang Rd., Qiaotou Dist., Kaohsiung City 825405, Taiwan, R.O.C.)

Kaohsiung Sugar Refinery was originally known as “Kio-a-thau Sugar Refinery.” It was the first modernized mechanical sugar refinery of Taiwan and was founded 112 years ago. Its sugar factory, Japanese-style wooden buildings, bunker, red brick water tower and other heritage buildings were all well-preserved.
